Devex´s international reputation grows with the success of another project delivered overseas.  During the second semester of 2011, Devex concluded with great success the first implementation phase of Smartmine in New Caledonie.

Known before as Goro, this mine is one of the few places in the world with integrated processes (plant, mine, harbor). The imminent expansion of processing plants will make this Vale mine the biggest nickel producer of the world. Devex, with its Smartmine system, will play a vital role in the real time operation of control and supply of the mine, even under the adverse conditions of this isolated island, located in the South Pacific Ocean. Overall, there will be 62 trackers utilized in trucks, excavators, tractors and wheel loaders.

Automatized mining- In addition to fleet optimization, Smartmine controls ore quality using last generation equipment, with systems for data import of the physicochemical quality of each excavation point/mining front.  The system eliminates the possibility of human error in the tracking and blending of the nickel, which ceases to be manual. The director of Devex Asia, Aston Bell, says that this project would not be possible without the open mind of the New Caledonia staff, mainly the commitment from the mine director, David Chiron, and that of the IT Project Manager, Jerôme Vantage. To Chiron, the importance of Smartmine in New Caledonia cannot be underestimated, and neither the role it will play: ``We are very happy with the Smartmine implementation and we have great expectations from this system.´´
