“The company combines its advanced expertise of management and mine operations to develop the software Smartmine®., which is being adopted in many countries. In its effort to increase its exports, it made significant investments in quality certification. The company celebrates 2010 with major achievements: opening new offices, acquiring new mines, a significant increase in revenues and the solidification of the company in the international market.”
With these words, Devex was presented as outstanding company of Minas Gerais, under the category “Services – Innovation” at the foreign trade award ceremony for the Magazine, Fato Relevante (Relevant Facts), April issue. The award was made at the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais (Federação das Indústrias de Minas Gerais, or FIEMG) headquarters with the presence of former minister and current Secretary of the State for Economic Development in Minas Gerais, Dorothéa Werneck and former Minister of Finance and Planning, Paul Haddad. The award is in recognition of work by Devex and other companies in eight other exporting sectors such as agribusiness and mining- which had Vale as the big winner. CEO, Guilherme Bastos and Director of Products and Innovation, Luiz Thomaz do Nascimento received the award on behalf of Devex.
Criteria- The winning companies for 2010 were selected based on “cases” from Central Exportaminas, a state owned export expediting entity. “We are convinced that it is indispensable and urgent to publicly recognize these achievements, as one of the most exciting ways to encourage entrepreneurs to continue to advance boundaries and conquer new markets in all parts of the world,” said Durval Guimarães, ex director of Gazeta Mercantil and editor in chief of Fato Relevante.
In 2010, approximately 1,800 companies from Minas Gerais generated a cumulative total of $31 billion in overseas sales, solidifying the state as the second largest exporter in Brazil. For the Secretary of Economic Development, Dorothéa Werneck, the success of technological companies, such as Devex, breaks the paradigm of Minas Gerais as an exporting state of only ore and agriculture products. “this is proof that diversification of our economy exists, especially in high technology and its development, which is one of the major goals for the Government of Minas,” said the Secretary of the State. Devex CEO, Guilherme Bastos accentuates that the selection of Devex, among many others of great value, further motivates directors and employees to continue on the path of bringing the names Devex and Brazil to ever higher levels in the world economy.
