Paragominas Bauxite Mine / Vale in an expansion of its production, is also expanding the use of the solution SmartMine. New equipments produced by Devex in its manufacturing facility in Belo Horizonte were dispatched today to Pará State. See the photos.

SmartMine is used in Paragominas for the optimization and management of the entire mine operation. Currently SmartMine’s Exacta System is being used to also improve the performance of the topsoil, reaching the layer of ore with the least possible cost.

Paragominas is the third largest bauxite mine in the world with production capacity of approximately 9.9 million tons annually. The expansion project expected to meet the demands of CAP refinery when will increase the refinery capacity to 15 million tonnes.
SmartMine is a set of tools for obtaining the maximum performance of mine operation. The operation control is established by means of maps, mine plans, quality plans and other vital data as input to the system. 24x7 continuous monitoring is done through the installation of onboard computers equipped with GPS, sensors and communication devices in each vehicle. With the control and monitoring set, all the power of decision making is aided by sophisticated algorithms that will make use of expert knowledge, statistical and optimization methods to increase production rates and productivity to unprecedented levels.
